ESO Market - Trading all the in-game goods you need!
Elder Scrolls Online developed by Zenimax Online Studios is the black sheep in the Elder Scrolls series, not because of its quality as a game, but because it is the only MMO in the saga; at least until now.
Just like all MMOs, ESO has a trading system, which differs greatly from those of most MMORPGs. In this guide, we are going to address everything concerning the ESO Market, what differentiates it from other systems, and what you have to do to get the best out of it.

What is the ESO Market?
If you are a fan of the Massive Multiplayer Online game, you already know that one of the central points of those games is the in-game economy, the system through which players and mobs get their weapons, equipment, and items.
In this regard, Elder Scrolls Online is not an exception. In the ESO Market system, players and NPCs exchange, buy, and sell all kinds of in-game goods, from currencies to consumables, establishing market prices in relation to supply and demand.
In general, MMOs have a ‘Central Marketplace’, a special place where you can find everything you are looking for, but this is not the case of ESO.
In ESO you don’t have a ‘Market Board’ (FFXIV) or an Open Market (Albion Online) or an Auction House. Instead, you have the Guild Banks and the Guild Stores, and you need to go to them to sell items and buy stuff.
Anyway, the ESO economy still houses the majority of the capital in the continent of Tamriel.
How does a Guild Store work?
As we mentioned before, in ESO there are not ‘Auction Houses’, just Guild Banks and Stores in which you can find what you are looking for, in the event ‘that’ it is for sale.
A Guild Store is the place where players who are part of that Guild, offer and buy their items.
To offer, or access, goods in Guilds you first have to be a member of that Guild.
Once you have joined that organization, you can start to check all the items that are available and trade them.
If you would like to sell items to players who are not part of your Guild, you need to hire a Guild Trader, a special NPC that is in charge of offering items to different player guilds.
The secret of using Guild Traders is that you place some in different areas of Tamriel.
This allows you to move a total of 150 listings at once.
A Guild Trader belonging to a specific Guild.
In this regard, one of the best tools you can use to know the global prices, and when a player publishes an article below this price is the online Tamriel Trade Centre (TTC). We will address this later.
How does Elder Scrolls Online Market work?
To start using the ESO Market system, the first thing you have to do is go to a bank and talk with a banker. This NPC will give access to the Guilds Store.
The third option is the Guild Store.
The third option that will appear when you talk with the banker is the Guild Store. Click on this option and you will have access to the main menu. We will talk about the second option ‘Guild Bank’, later in this article.
In the main menu, you will find the main tabs and the information you need to buy or sell goods and in-games currency items.
In the top left, you can see the name of the Guild. In the top right of the new window, there are the three main tabs of this menu.
1. Search tab.
2. Sell tab.
3. Listing tab.
The first of these options you need to pay attention to is the bottom tab, in which you can select the specific Guild you wish to trade with.
In this tab, you choose the specific Guild.
When you click on this tab, you will see a new window, in which you can select the Guild Store. Just remember that each Guild has a different list of items, types, and prices.
In this tab, you can select the Guild Store in which you can trade.
Once you select the Guild in question, if you can check all the items entries that are offered in that Guild Store, just select the option ‘Start Search’, or press R.
This is the tab where you start with the search.
Now you have the list of all items you can purchase in that Guild. The items on the list are arranged in order of price, from the cheapest to the most expensive. You can change this order by pressing on the word ‘Price’.
The information you can check in the list is the following:
- Item name
- The name of the seller
- The percentage of growth or decrease with respect to the average price
- The Time Left
- The Price.
If you put the cursor over any item, two new windows will appear to the left of the list.
The first one is the info of the item you have equipped.
The second one is the info of the item you have selected on the list.
This way you can compare both items at the same time. If you select an item that cannot be equipped, then just the right window will appear.
Trading Guild compares both items, the one you have equipped and the one you are going to buy.
If you want to buy an item (for example, gear, a ring, a necklace, or crafting materials such as Corn Flower), just double click over the item.
A new window will ask you if you are sure you want to buy the item. Select Buy or Cancel, depending on the case.
Confirmation window.
A substantial difference of this system from others is that when you buy an item, it does not appear instantly in your inventory, instead, it comes to you by mail, so you will have to wait.
Another option is searching directly in the trade Guild for a specific item. For such purposes, you have the section ‘Search Store for’, where you can search the item according to the type, traits, enchantments, price, level, and quality.
The option you have are the following:
Type of item:
- All items
- Apparel
- Soul Gems and Glyphs
- Crafting
- Guild items
- Consumables
- Furnishings
- Other.
Depending on the option you choose, you will have at your disposal different alternatives to make your search even more detailed.
Regarding the traits, these are the following:
- All traits
- Divines
- Impenetrable
- Infused
- Intricate
- Invigorating
- Nirnhoned
- Ornate
- Reinforced
- Sturdy
- Training
- Well-fitted.
If we talk about the quality, you can select from the following options:
- Any quality
- Normal
- Fine
- Superior
- Epic
- Legendary
Selling in the Elder Scrolls Online Guild Store
Now let’s talk about the sales system. As we mentioned before, the second tab in the upper right corner is the Sell tab.
Please, don’t forget that you can only sell in the Guilds of which you are a member, to your Guild mates or Guild members. The Guild in question must have the store unlocked. This is achieved by having 50 members.
And remember you can change the Guild in which you can sell your items in the bottom tab.
When you click on the Sell tab, a list of items you have in your inventory and you can sell will appear.
In the top right you can select the type of item you can sell.
Now you can select the item that you are interested in selling. When you select the item, a new window will appear on the screen. In this new window, you can check the name of the item on the top, the number of units you have of that item, the total price, which you can set as you want, the listing Fee, and the House Cut.
The sell window.
In the example from the window above, you have 18 Warrior-Poet´s Shield. The maximum number you can sell is 30.
The Total Price is, as its name says, the price at which you want to sell this article. According to this price, you have to pay server costs, the Listing Fee, and the House Cut, which are a percentage of the Total Price.
- Listing Fee. This amount corresponds to 1% of the Total Price. This amount is charged to you at the time of publishing the item. If you cannot sell the product, this amount will not be refunded to you.
- House Cut. This amount corresponds to 7% of the Total Price. You pay this amount once you sell the item. This amount goes to the Guild coffers.
At the bottom of the window, you will find the profit you will receive in case the item is sold (Total Price - Listing Fee - House Cut).
The only thing you have to do next is pressing the List Item button on the bottom of the main page. Now your item is on the market.
Finally, in the Listing tab, you will find a list of all the items you have in the market. Here you can check the name item, the Time Left, and the Price.
Listing items.
It is very important you know that you can only have 30 objects at the same time on the Guild site so that you keep in mind and take advantage of the space in the best possible way.
What is the Elder Scrolls Online Market Master Merchant?
Master Merchant is one of the best ads of ESO. MM is a very useful Addon related to the trading system in ESO. Master Merchant has two main uses:
- Contains all the sales data of your sales.
- Integrates all the history of the items sold in a certain Guild.
1.- In this tab, you can check the statistics.
2.- Here you can switch between the buyer’s info and seller’s info.
In this first use, you can check the items that you have sold, the name of the buyer, the Guild in which you have sold the item, the Sale Time, and the Price.
The second use is the more famous of the two. Here you can select any of the items that have been sold in the Guild and check its record.
In this area, you can check the average price at which the item has been sold.
